Port
Sunlight was
established in 1888 by the industrialist William Hesketh Lever,
and a unique place to visit.
This purpose-built garden village
was created to house the employees of his soap factory and
was named after the company's most popular product, Sunlight
soap.
Today the Port
Sunlight Vision Museum tells visitors the facinating story
of the planned village.
A highlight of Port Sunlight
is the Lady Lever Art Gallery, famous for its 18th and 19th
century paintings, 18th century furniture and collection of
Wedgewood pottery.
