|
| Dereham,
also known as East Dereham, a market town, from Saxon times,
with a range of shops.
The town was established by Withburga, daughter of a Saxon
King, as a religious centre and was a point of pilgrimage.
Originally the town was called East Dereham, but recently
'East' has been dropped.
Market on Tuesday and Friday, rest up in the Queen Mother's
Garden in the centre of town.
There is a local swimming pool, squash club, and golf course,
as well as a refurbished, three screen cinema.
