History,
countryside and rolling hills
This
"newish" county of Bath and North East Somerset,
about 100 miles west of London, is part of the ceremonial
county of Somerset.
Commonly
referred to as BANES or B&NES, it was created in 1996 following
the abolition of the County of Avon. Don't be suprised if
the locals still call it Somerset or Avon.
The district
borders Bristol, Somerset, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire
and Wiltshire.
Visiting
this county will give you countryside and the historic , and
famous, city of Bath to visit. Bath is ideal for a weekend
break, day-trip and longer holidays in the area.
And you
can pop into Bristol, just north of the county.
Other
attractive villages and market towns to visit include Bathampton,
Chew Magna, Chew Stoke, and Midsomer Norton
