this ancient town was granted its market charter in 1201.
As the name suggests, the town was noted for its wells
and it is believed that Charles I and Queen Henrietta Maria
came to Wellingborough to take the waters.

Museum,
Dulley's Baths, 12 Castle Way, NN8 1XB, in a Victorian swimming
baths, which later became a shoe factory. Collection of artefacts,
maps, pictures showing the history of the town since Roman
times. Open: All year 10:00-16:30. Closed Sundays. Free admission.

Earls
Barton Museum of Village Life
in the grounds of Barker's Shoe factory, The Square, Earls
Barton, west on A45, this
small museum contains permanent exhibitions of a shoe worker's
cottage at the beginning of the 20th century, a lace case
and corner shop. Displays tell the story of Earl Barton's
footwear manufacturing, local memorabilia and early photographs.

All Saints Church is also
worth a look here, set high on a hill in the centre of the
village, noted for its fine Saxon tower.

Santa
Pod International Raceway,
Airfield Road, Podington, Wellingborough.
Santa
Pod is the most famous drag racing track outside the USA.
It stages over 35 events for high speed cars and bikes, ranging
from the European Drag Racing Championships to 'run what u brung'
public race days. Known as " The Pod', the track
offers 'close to the action viewing' for exciting family entertainment.

Country Park, Little Irchester,
SE of Wellingborough , B570 off the A509 SE of Wellingborough.
This country park has 200 acres
of delightful woodlands. The ironstone quarry and the old quarry
face with layers of rock and fossils, is a Regionally Important
Geological Site. Nature trails, Visitor Centre, picnic
