In the
heart of the city, the Arena presents a programme of live music,
comedy, ice shows and sporting events. The 10,000 seat venue
opened in 2000 within the state-of-the-art National Ice Centre.
The UK's first twin ice pad facility, the Ice Centre is used
as a training base for most of the country's young skaters and
is the home of the Nottingham Panthers, the UK's oldest ice
hockey team.

Royal

Two venues
- the Theatre Royal and the Royal Concert Hall - presenting
drama, dance, musicals, opera, classical and contemporary music
and family entertainment. The Theatre Royal, built in 1865 -
its classic facade still dominating the skyline. By the late
1960's the building had become very run down until restoredl.
The 1,186 seat Victorian auditorium, adorned in green and gilt,
reopened in 1978. The Royal Concert Hall stands on the site
of the Empire Theatre of Varieties that once operated alongside
the Theatre Royal. Demolished in 1969, a new 2,499 concert hall
was completed in 1982.

The Playhouse
has earned a reputation for making bold and thrilling theatre. New
work, classics and rediscovered masterpieces, originally for
the local community, have been brought to national and international
audiences through touring. The modern, Grade II listed, building
has a proscenium theatre, with an auditorium that can seat over
700. Its foyer areas provide space for small productions and
exhibitions.

The Arts
Theatre offers a range of plays, musicals and pantomine. Located
within Hockley Village, a bohemian quarter of the city, the
theatre was established in 2001 by the Co-Operative Arts Theatre
Club as a community theatre.

Cabaret

This new
venue, in a Grade II listed building on the site of the Old
Vic, boasts red velvet, candlelight and sparkling chandeliers.
Caberet is suitable for all ages and sexes and perfect for occasions.
On Friday and Saturday the 'Cabaret Experience', presents a
taste of world's best shows. On Sunday it hosts the Just the
Tonic Comedy Night, Nottingham's longest running comedy club.
Cabaret is also the only permanent venue for drag cabaret in

independent amateur theatre, in the centre of Nottingham, offers
a programme of traditional and modern drama, comedy and the
occasional musical. As well as the main house with seating

Highfields Park, the Lakeside Arts Centre is the University
of Nottingham's unique public arts facility. There are two performance
venues: the 250 seat Djanogly Theatre, in the D H Lawrence Pavilion
