the east of Nottingham and is almost, but not quite, part
of the conurbation of Greater Nottingham.

This Tudor
house is set in 30 acres of parkland, 5 miles south-east of
Nottingham. The oldest brick building in the country, dating
from 1510, and still lived in by descendants of the Pierrepont
family.The building is the gatehouse range of a larger medieval
house from the 13th century.Interiors include features rescued
from the demolished Hall range, including a Charles II staircase. Victorian
garden and the courtyard, 1875, has an elaborate box parterre,
roses and herbaceous borders. In Feb and Mar admire the spring
garden with its snowdrops, daffodils and shrubs.

National Water Sports Centre

West of
Radcliffe, signposted from A52, Set in 270 acres of country
parkland, this purpose-built centre was designed to train athletes
and stage national and international sporting events. On the
River Trent,the river and the 2,000 m regatta lake provide a
range of water sports including dinghy sailing, windsurfing,
canoeing, rowing and power-boat handling. Man-made slalom course
for canoeing and white water rafting and water skiing lagoon,
with cable tow.

2.5 miles
east of Nottingham Racecourse, off A612, a 250 acre country
park created from gravel workings. A haven for wildlife, with
woodland trails around the edge of meadows and lakes. The park's
diversity of wildlife includes large number of birds, especially
at migration time, and in wintertime important numbers of wildfowl
are resident here. Great for walking and fishing, water sports
and the other leisure activities on offer. Across the river
is the National Water Sports Centre.

Radcliffe off A46 , a 44 acre wildflower farm - open fields
and meadows alive with flowers, bees and butterflies. There
are also nature reserves, a dragonfly pond and nature trails.
A wildflower garden gives visitors inspiration for their own
plots and a range of the farm's own wildflower plants and seeds
are on sale. Tea room, picnic area and children's play area.
