A60. Home of the preserved Great Central Railway, alongside
Rushcliffe Country Park, nearly 10 miles of railway - run by
volunteers. Road and rail transport vehicle collection, the
GCR Rolling Stock Trust, the Nottingham Society of Model & Experimental
Engineers and a model railway. Events such as 'Santa Specials'.
Open: Easter- the last weekend in Oct every Sunday and

Housed in
St Peter's Rooms - formerly the Ruddington Infants and Girls'
School- , this local museum explores Edwardian Ruddington with
reconstructed shops: a cobbler, ironmonger, pharmacy, toy shop
and Mick's Fish and Chip Shop. Telephone exchange, schoolroom
and collection of farm implements.

Ruddington
Framework Knitters Museum Chapel

Working
museum in a group of Victorian knitting workshops and cottages,
with a washhouse, pigsty, pumps and privies, around a garden
courtyard. The frameshops mark change of the knitting industry
from its domestic origins to factory-based. Ruddington's knitting
industry ceased at the start of WW I but in 1971 a trust was
established to preserve and restore the buildings. Features
living accomodation as in 1850 and 1900 and frameshops with
the machines. Demonstrations.

Manor
Farm Animal Centre & Donkey Sanctuary Castle

south of Ruddington. Opened in 1992, Manor Farm provides a home
for a wide range of needy and distressed animals and birds.
In rolling countryside it has 100 acres of wild flower meadows,
woodland and willow coppice, as well s a lake and reed bed. Over
50 breed of animals to visit. Donkey and pony rides, an art
& craft activity centre, nature trail, living willow village,
adventure play areas, straw maze and quad bikes. Cafe, picnic
area and shop.

This newly-created
country park on former MOD land on the outskirts of Ruddington.
Includes the Nottinghamshire Heritage Centre, with its collecton
of classic buses and steam trains. The park has footpaths, a
wood, nature reserve and lake. Adventure playground has bridges
over the restored steam railway.
