Famous
for its history and the story of Robin Hood and his merry
men in Sherwood Forest. Some of this huge ancient forest survives
to this day making it a great place for days out.
Although
the area suffered with the decline of the mining industry
regeneration of the county is and is still happening re-using
industrial areas for leisure attractions and new employment.
Nottingham
is the main city of the area, a vibrant in-place to be - almost
infamous for its bars and restaurants as well as well known
tourist attractions such as Nottingham castle.
Its
industrial heritage hides the fact the county has large areas
of countryside - much of it open for recreational use with
walks and trails
