North YorkshireSaltburn-by-the-Sea

Saltburn-by-the-Sea, formerly an upmarket resort for Victorians, the small town is just south of its larger neighbour, Redcar.

Features remain from the Victorian era, the cliff lift, pier, and the formal gardens.

With the beach protected by the high, 365 foot headland, and the coastal scenery continuing south towards Whitby, you can walk the North Yorkshire & Cleveland Heritage Coast.

The rugged coastline hides its secret illicit trading history, visit the Saltburn Smugglers Heritage Centre in restored fisherman's cottages for the full story.

Quite a lot to see and do up and down the coast.
