Abingdon
|
|
| Abingdon,
is on the River Thames, and was the county town of Berkshire
until part of Oxfordshire in 1974, so it retains some impressive
buildings, with all the facilities of a market town.
With historical connections to the local abbey, there are
old buildings dating from the 15th century that still survive
including the chapel of St Johnıs Hospital, a refuge for travellers,
and almshouses around St Helen's Church.
Abingdon has a Tourist Information Centre. Tel: 01235 522711
