The attractive Spa town of Llandrindod Wells is the county town of Powys, located in the very centre of the region and surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Llandrindod Wells boasts many fine Victorian and Edwardian buildings from the heyday of 19th century tourism, when visitors came to 'take the waters' in the hope of health benefits from the spring waters.
An annual Victorian festival celebrates life in this era, with locals dressing in historical costumes and a wide range of events including music, exhibitions, street theatre, parades and a fairground. The Radnorshire Museum also has displays on this period, along with earlier local life and natural history.
Rock Park is an attractive green space, with a man-made lake and a wonderful sculpture of a water serpent and fish, spouting water into the air. Other attractions include the National Cycle Museum, with a wonderful collection housed in The Automobile Palace, an architecturally interesting Art Deco building.
