Llanwrtyd Wells is a small and pretty town set in beautiful mid Wales countryside on the fringes of the Cambrian Mountains. It was formerly a spa town popular in the 18th to early 20th centuries for the curative power of the local mineral springs.
Officially Britain's smallest town, Llanwrtyd Wells prides itself on its friendliness and sense of community. There are plenty of things to do in the local area, taking advantage of the wonderful open countryside surrounding the town, including mountain biking, hill walking and horse riding with a range of local activity centres.
However, the town has become more well known in recent times for more unusual pastimes, including Bog Snorkelling, Man vs Horse Marathon, zorbing, bathtubbing (rather than canoeing) and bike chariot racing, amongst other whacky sporting events.
