Presteigne is an attractive market town, set on the River Lugg right on the border of England and Wales. With individual shops, pubs and restaurant and historic old buildings it is a great place to spend some time.
Among the fine buildings in the town centre is the elegant Assembly Rooms, home to Mid Border Arts, who hosts a range of music, theatre and other cultural events.
The Judge's Lodging is an entertaining 'hands on' museum in the splendid Shire Hall building, which recreates Victorian life as it was for the judges who lived and worked there.
Presteigne is also known for its annual festivals, most notably the Presteigne Festival of music and the arts, and the celebration of roots and world music that is Sheep Music. It is also now known for the Tour de Presteigne, a weekend dedicated to the electric bike and other forms of sustainable transport.
There is Tourist Information Centre in the town.
