Renfrew tourist information

The historic town of Renfrew is set on the South bank of the River Clyde, and played an important part in the great shipbuilding industries that dominated this area in the industrial revolution and beyond. There is still a passenger ferry that operates to Yorker on the North bank of the river.

With some handsome architecture, the town is an interesting place to visit, dominated by the towering spire and turrets of the imposing Victorian Town Hall. You can learn more about Renfrew's history in the Community Museum and discover its shipbuilding past at the Clydebuilt Scottish Maritime Museum.

In recent years this area has gained a huge new visitor attraction in the Braehead Shopping Centre and Leisure complex. Just to the east of Renfrew, this boasts over 100 stores including popular names such as IKEA. There are also a large number of activities to try including an indoor snow centre, climbing walls, childrens playpark, multiplex cinema and bowling, to name but a few, and a wide choice of places to eat and drink.
