Durness tourist information

Durness is the most North Westerly village in Scotland, a remote and isolated place set in stunning scenery.

Just along the coast is Cape Wrath, the tip of mainland Scotland, accessible by ferry crossing. The coastline here is rugged cliffs and sandy beaches, including the lovely Balnakeil Bay. There are also a number of caves, including Smoo Cave, the largest in Britain.

The highlight of the area however is probably Sandwood Bay. This is a beautiful golden sandy beach with endless sand dunes and the iconic Am Buachaille, a fantastic stacked rock formation rising dramatically from the sea.
