In the Upper Spey Valley and within the Cairngorms National Park, Kingussie is set in lovely and unspolit scenery.
The town prospered in the 19th century and its attractive stone buildings reflect its history as a popular Victorian Highland resort.
There is a wealth of natural beauty and wildlife to enjoy in the area, including walking and hiking in the foothills of the Cairngorms and woodland. Osprey, red squirrels, otters, pine martins and wild cats are just a few of the protected species found in the area.
Local attractions include the Highland Wildlife Park, home to native and exotic animals, the Highland Folk Museum, and the dramatic ruins of Ruthven Barracks built on the remains of earlier castles.
There is a small tourist information centre in the High Street.
