In a picturesque setting on the banks of Loch Broom, the fishing port of Ullapool is the largest settlement in the far North West of Scotland.
The town is an excellent base for touring this otherwise remote and quiet region, with plenty of shops, pubs and other amenities, and ferry links to the Outer Hebrides. It also has a museum.
The main attraction however, is the beautiful surrounding countryside. With mountain, sea and loch, it is a magnet for walkers and climbers. To the north towards Lochinver are Stac Pollaidh and Suilven, dramatic rugged mountains affording breathtaking views across the coast and islands. Corrieshalloch Gorge to the south is a spectacular canyon formed by the River Droma, which cascades over the lovely Falls of Measach.
Enjoy the outdoors walking the lochs and mountains and the coast.
