Exford, in the centre of the Exmoor moor, and a good base for walking. This small town is on the River Exe and you can walk along the river here, very tranquil.

16th century parish church is worth a look, sited above the village.

You may see the Devon and Somerset staghounds hunt gathering at the village green.

Dunkery Beacon, north-east of here, take the B3224 east to get closer then walk to the top, the high point of the landscape with views over to Wales, if your fit you can walk on to Luccombe further north.
