SomersetIlchester

Ilchester, a small town off the A303, lots of small shops to browse around.

The town was a Roman fort, and during Saxon times there was a mint here.   Ilchester was a walled town in medieval times, when the bridge over the Yeo was built, it did have a small chapel.

There are Georgian houses in the town, and St Mary Major church has a 13th Century tower.

The South Somerset Cycle Route and the Leland Trail both pass through the town..
