Minehead
|
|
| Minehead,
on the north coast of Somerset, between Exmoor and the sea,
the town was once a fishing village, now caters for a large
number of holidaymakers every year. The parish church used to
have a beacon to guide travellers on Exmoor and help ships into
the harbour.
The town has a harbour,
beach and promenade, all sheltered by the hills inland, and
is the home of a large, and popular, Butlins holiday camp
recently revamped. You can visit Butlins on a day ticket to
try the rides and use the pools.
North Hill is above
the town and gives good views across the town and the Bristol
Channel. Visit Blenheim Gardens with its model village.
There is a Tourist
Information Centre in the town.
