SomersetShepton Mallet

Shepton Mallet, overshadowed by nearby Wells, but worth a stroll around this small market town.

A long history here, from the Bronze Age, the Romans, and a history of religious orders.

There is a local market on Fridays around the 15th century market cross, with industry originally based on wool to be replaced by brewing and the cider industry.

The West of England Show ground is just south on the A371.

Tourist Information Centre in the town.
