SomersetWincanton

Wincanton, once an important coaching stop, and the buildings reflect this. The town is half way between Plymouth and London on the busy A303.

Georgian buildings in the town remain,as do the coaching inns. The town had a fire in 1707 and most of the buildings date since then. The church is worth a quick look.

Racecourse outside the town, probably the first place that steeplechasing took place.

Some nice villages in the area, try Templecombe, south on A357, still has the stocks!
