Troon tourist information
The harbour town of Troon was built on fishing, sea trading and ship building, but is best known today as a friendly traditional seaside resort, and for its world-famous golf course.
The historic Royal Troon Golf Club was founded in 1878 and is an outstanding championship course in a beautiful coastal setting. The area has many other excellent courses, and has become known as Scotland's 'golf coast'.
The sea dominates in Troon, whether it be in walks along the wide sandy beaches with the isles of the Firth of Clyde in the distance, watching the sailing boats in the marina, or catching the ferry to Larne in Northern Island.
