Brewood
lies on the River Penk, 8 miles north of Wolverhampton and
3 miles from the Shropshire border.
The Shropshire
Union Canal passes throught the western edge of the village
and the Belvide Reservoir, which feeds the canal, lies nearby.
This
area is closed associated with King Charles II. In
1651 the future king sheltered at Boscobel
House for two days after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester.
From here Charles travelled on to Moseley
Old Hall , just north of Wolverhampton, where he was concealed
for a further two days.
Today
Boscobel House is in the care of English Heritage and Moseley
Old Hall belongs to the National Trust, both historic homes
are worth a vsit.
