The market
town of Penkridge lies on the River Penk between Wolverhampton
and Stafford.
Penkridge's
historical stocks and cells can still be seen in the town
centre.
The town
is dominated by the 18th century Littleton Arms, a reminder
of when Penkridge was a bustling coaching town.
On an
ancient site, on the western edge of the town, stands the
12th century church of St Michael. At night the church's
magnificent spire is illuminated and can be seen from miles
away.
A market
is held in Penkridge every Wednesday and Saturday on the site
of the area's cattle auction and each December the town hosts
a Victorian Christmas Market.
