Callander tourist information
The picturesque highland town of Callander nestles amongst the surrounding craggy hills and is one of the gateways to the Trossachs region of Scotland.
This beautiful land of wild hills, lochs and waterfalls has drawn visitors for generations, particulary following the works of Sir Walter Scott such as his romantic poem The Lady of the Lake in the 19th century, which immortalised nearby Loch Katrine. Callander is a popular base for exploring this area, and has an wide range of quaint shops and cafes aimed at the tourist trade.
It is now also part of the larger Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, and the whole region offers great opportunities for walking, climbing, mountain-biking and just enjoying the great outdoors.
