East SuffolkAldeburgh

Aldeburgh, once a busy, thriving port, this town has suffered storm damage and coastal erosion, but is still a fishing port to this day.

The 16th century Moot Hall once stood in the town centre, now its on the sea wall!

Many musical connections, Benjamins Britten's Peter Grimes was set here, and  Britten and Peter Pears, the singer and Britten's friend, are buried in the church yard.

Aldeburgh Festival Of Music, is held each June with a smaller September one, is world famous. The concerts are held at Snape in a rebuilt 19th century maltings and in Snape Church. Worth going anyway as the town has shops etc or take a boat trip.
