Central SuffolkHadleigh

Hadleigh is an old market town, once prosperous on wool.

It has a 15th century Guildhall, the ground floor of which was a poor house, and the different building styles in the High Street are one of the features of this town, once painted by Gainsborough .

Wolves Wood, East on A1071, RSPB reserve in ancient woodland.
 
Deanery Tower, remains from former 15th century Archdeacon's palace.
 
Kersey,  a pretty village with timbered preserved houses that lead downhill to a  ford. On the hilltop overlooking the village is a 15th century church. Also Lindsey, small roads further north, has a flint chapel, 13th century.
 
Wattisham Airfield Collection, Great Bricett, take the A1141 then the B1115 between Hadleigh and Bury St Edmunds, to visit this small exhibition next to a big helicopter base, Tel: 01449 728933
