Godstone
lies to the south of the North Downs, the settlement developed
at the point where the Guildford to Maidstone road (now A25)
and London to Eastbourne (now A22) met.
The pretty
village has many small cottages grouped around a green with
a cricket pitch and a duck pond.
South
Godstone is three miles to the south, developed in Victorian
times around Godstone railway station.
Nearby
are some interesting visitor attractions.
Godstone
Farm, just off the A25, is the most popular farm attraction
in the South East. Located in beautiful surroundings, the
farm has lots of friendly animals such as horses, ponies and
rabbits and has play areas and an indoor play barn.
Godstone
Vineyards, set in 50 acres of farmland, is said to be
Britains most beautiful vineyard. Open all year round, this
offers a vineyard trail, café, wine-tasting bar and wine shop.
The
Old Mill on Outwood Common lies 4 miles south-west of
Godstone. Dating from 1665, this is the oldest working windmill
in the country and visitors can still buy flour here.
