Mumbles, also known as Oystermouth, is a pleasant seaside resort just across the Bay from the city of Swansea.
The town grew popular as a tourist destination in the 19th century and still has a Victorian feel, with a wide promenade and gardens overlooking the shore with great views over the Bay. The town is stretched along the coast from the castle to the pier, beyond which are some lovely sandy coves and the attractive 18th century lighthouse set on a dramatic rocky islet off Mumbles Head. There are a good range of pubs and restaurants making excellent use of the coastal scenery.
Mumbles is a great base from which to explore the glorious unspoilt scenery of the Gower Peninsula, with its famously beautiful coastline and ancient castles.
