Balloch tourist information

On the southern tip of Loch Lomond, the village of Balloch is an ideal starting point for enjoying the lake and the surrounding National Park by water or land.

Visit Loch Lomand Shores to start your journey, a modern lakeside shopping and leisure complex that also houses a cinema, aquarium, and the Loch Lomond Gateway Centre which provides more information about the local countryside and visitor attractions.

No visit would be complete without a trip on the beautiful loch itself, whether from a boat cruise from the pier or under your own steam by hiring a canoe, kayak or pedal boat from Loch Lomond Shore. For a more relaxing experience you can visit the Maid of the Loch, a paddle steamer now used as a bar and restaurant and currently being restored to one day sail again.

Balloch Castle Country Park is also set alongside the loch and enjoys magnificent views. This estate has been a public park since the early 1900s and has beautiful landscaped gardens and woodland trails. The original castle was replaced in the 19th century with an impressive Gothic mansion.
