Whitburn is a former mining town, and now the centre is under development. The former Polkemmet Colliery is being transformed to create new homes, jobs and 2 championship-level golf courses.
The highlight of this area is undoubtedly Polkemmet Country Park, with beautiful mature woodlands and parkland of 169 acres. Visitors can walk along the nature trails and the River Almond, as well as using the golf course, play areas and restaurant.
