Melksham

Melksham, the town was a wool town in medieval times, and was once part of a royal forest used for hunting. After the discovery of springs in 1816 it tried, but failed, to become a spa town even after building a pump room, baths, promenade and crescents. More recently the town was a WW2 airbase, now long gone. Buildings in the town reflect past prosperity, especially those in Canon Square and Church Walk. The town has a swimming pool, golf course, and a ten pin bowling alley. Tourist Information Centre in the town.

Melksham Tourist Attractions

Lacock Village, A350 north towards Chippenham, National Trust, the whole village, with its small streets, was given to the National Trust in 1944, a favourite spot to visit, with buildings from the 15th century.
