Horsham
|
|
| Horsham,
a busy town with lots of housing estates serving the nearby
offices and factories, as well as Gatwick
Airport. All the facilities you would expect, including
a swimming pool, art centre and theatre, and if the shopping
area is too small, pop over to Crawley.
In the 13th century
the town was based on iron and then quarrying stone, now
a market town popular with commuters and local workers. It
is said that in the 19th century you could buy a wife for
30 shillings. Some of the old town remains around the church.
Despite being built
up there are some nice villages in the area that retain their
country charm.
Tourist Information
Centre in the town museum.
